Tetouan

Presentation

According to Arab poets, Tetouan would be ‘daughter of Granada’. It is partly located on the slopes of Jbel Dersa, and has known different peoples through the centuries including the Jewish refugees of Granada in the 15th century, and the Andalusian Moors in the 17th century. It was until the 18th century, a point of trade collaborating with Europe which made it a city-state like Venice or Florence. The Spanish later made it their capital during the protectorate.

Tetouan now has several residential areas and several beaches, beaches so well known in Morocco and so beautiful that in summer you will never find a place unless you go early.
